Fáilte Ireland invites applications for the position of Officer, Publicity. The role will report to the Manager, Publicity & Partnerships.

JOB PURPOSE

The successful candidate will have specific responsibility, as part of the Publicity and Partnerships Team, for delivering excellent itineraries for international media, thereby maximising international publicity for Ireland through engagement with colleagues and media from overseas markets.

Note: Our partner agency, Tourism Ireland, has the responsibility of marketing the island of Ireland to overseas holidaymakers. We work very closely in partnership with them as they source and monitor the international media whom we host jointly.

JOB DESCRIPTION

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSABILITIES

The core objectives include:

  • Delivery of an extensive portfolio of excellent itineraries for media that help build international and domestic awareness for our brands, festivals and key activities.

  • Line management of support staff.

  • Management of event and market-specific media budgets.

  • Management of relationships with key stakeholders, including Tourism Ireland, Tourism Northern Ireland, and Irish Tourism businesses.

  • Monitoring of international media and PR plans against annual targets.

  • Support of domestic PR and partnerships activity as and when required.

Operational

  • Regular liaising with other divisions within Fáilte Ireland to inform content of itineraries for international media (including our programme teams, Wild Atlantic Way, Irelands Hidden Heartlands, Irelands Ancient East, and Dublin, our Festivals and Events team, and our Activities and Attractions teams).

  • Coordination and management of an annual calendar of media activity with specific Tourism Ireland markets.

  • Maintenance of relevant databases, ensuring data is up-to-date at all times.

  • Maintenance of cost-tracking system, ensuring best value is always obtained for the organisation.

  • Continuous monitoring of the Irish tourism landscape to identify opportunities for international media.

  • Conduct other duties and participate as a full member of the Publicity and Partnerships Team by supporting various work projects as required, from time to time.

  • This role sometimes requires travel, with attendance at a number of national and regional locations / sites on an annual basis.

  • This role will require working unsocial hours including bank holidays with regular attendance at Dublin-based divisional and project meetings.

  • The flexibility to travel domestically, and on occasion internationally is an element of this role.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience developing and delivering itineraries for media.

  • Excellent knowledge of the Irish tourism landscape and product.

  • A proven track record of project and budget management skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

  • Effective and efficient organisation and planning skills and the ability to prioritise.

  • work and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent knowledge of the tourism and/or service industry and related institutional networks at local and national level.

In order to be eligible to apply for this role you must have / demonstrate in your application form the following

  • Extensive experience in itinerary development for media.

  • Excellent product knowledge across our four programme areas (Wild Atlantic Way, Irelands Hidden Heartlands, Irelands Ancient East, and Dublin).

  • Experience delivering multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Experience working cross functionally with other teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications/Mandatory Training

  • A professional qualification (minimum Level 6 under the QQI Framework) in a related discipline is essential.

Desirable Criteria

Previous experience in the following areas:

  • Public Relations and/or marketing.

  • Different media channels, including social media and their associated needs.

  • Destination development experience.

SALARY

€55,693 - €79,643* per annum
