Occupational Therapist Acute The Occupational Therapist will provide a high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy service to patients across acute settings in Louth. The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support patients to achieve maximum independence in daily living, functional performance, and participation, in line with professional standards and organisational objectives. We can accept either a Staff or Senior Grade. Responsibilities of Occupational Therapist Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate occupational therapy interventions for patients in acute and rehabilitation settings. Carry out comprehensive functional assessments addressing activities of daily living (ADLs), cognition, perception, upper limb function, seating, and environmental needs. Develop and implement individualised, goal-oriented treatment plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team. Contribute to safe and timely discharge planning, including home assessments, equipment prescription, and onward referrals as required. Educate patients, families, and carers on functional strategies, equipment use, and rehabilitation goals. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with professional, legal, and organisational requirements. Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, social work, and other relevant disciplines. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case conferences, and ward rounds as required. Communicate effectively with community services to ensure continuity of care. Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and clinical governance frameworks. Comply with health and safety legislation, infection prevention and control policies, and risk management procedures. Participate in audit, quality improvement initiatives, and service development projects. Education, Training, and Development Engage in continuous professional development (CPD) to maintain and enhance professional competence. Participate in clinical supervision and performance review processes. Support the education and supervision of occupational therapy students as required. Participate in in-service training and contribute to team education initiatives. Manage and prioritise a clinical caseload effectively in a fast-paced acute and rehabilitation environment. Use electronic and manual information systems for data collection, audit, and service reporting. Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of occupational therapy policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines. Requirements of Occupational Therapist A recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy eligible for CORU registration. Registration with CORU as an Occupational Therapist at the time of appointment. Relevant post-qualification experience is desirable but not essential. Experience in acute hospital and/or rehabilitation settings is advantageous. #MEDAHP
