Irish Province of The Carmelite Order People and Culture Manager JOB DESCRIPTION Reports to: Prior Provincial or other nominated party Based at: Gort Muire, Ballinteer, Dublin, D16 E167 About us The Carmelites is a registered charity in Ireland and is involved in a diverse range of pastoral activities including friaries, churches and pastoral centres. There are approximately 107 full-time and part-time employees in Ireland across six locations including Dublin, Kinsale, Kildare and Moate. Accordingly, this role will require some occasional domestic travel. The People and Culture Manager, in collaboration with the Prior Provincial and his team, will help align our people strategy with our mission, provide specialised knowledge in all people areas and create policies and programmes in line with our goals and objectives. The job holder will also assist in the day-to-day administration of the organisations key systems and processes, the effective organisation of its people resources, and identify and implement process improvements as and where necessary. Main responsibilities Develop, update, implement and monitor all HR policies and procedures that are designed to meet business needs, resolve HR issues which reflect legislative requirements and best practice. Assist with the development and implementation of the organisations HR strategy and deliver a programme of proactive HR development initiatives aligned to Community priorities. Build close working relationships with employees providing professional advice, guidance and support on HR matters relating to procedures, policies, employee capability, skills development and workforce planning. Identification and delivery of appropriate learning and development interventions to develop employee skills and capability. Progress staff recruitment and selection activities, while adhering to recruitment policies and procedures in line with best practice and relevant legislation. Ensure compliance with employment and equality policies and procedures, and undertake the duties of this position in an inclusive, fair, safe and respectful manner. Measure, monitor and report key HR metrics. Support the community in reviewing existing work policies and practices to drive continuous improvement and deliver greater efficiencies of daily operations. Work closely with colleagues to streamline business operations to ensure costs are kept within established budgets. Contribute to the development and implementation of business plans and strategies for the organisation. Any other duties as required by line manager. Qualifications and Experience A minimum of an NGQ Level 7 or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, HR and/or Management, and membership of CIPD. At least 4 years experience in a comparable role and evidence of a commitment to promoting and achieving workplace diversity and best practice. Experience in managing disciplinary and grievance cases would be beneficial. An ability to work collaboratively with all groups, including staff, leadership, volunteers, donors, parishioners and other supporters of the Carmelite Order and the Prior Provincial. An understanding of, and respect for, the mission, values and traditions of the Carmelite Order and the Catholic Church, together with a willingness to support and promote these values in the workplace.
