You will manage a talented mix of full-time engineers, contractors, and graduates, supporting their growth, performance, and day-to-day success. This is an exceptional opportunity to build something new - leading a team developing a mobile app from the ground up, designed around Bluetooth-connected IoT devices and cloud synchronization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and grow a high performing mobile engineering team in Cork, spanning a range of experience levels.
  • Manage a mix of contractors and full time engineers, ensuring clarity, collaboration, and accountability across all contributors.
  • Drive technical excellence in app architecture, performance, and connectivity - with a strong focus on Bluetooth and IoT integration.
  • Provide hands on guidance when needed - from reviewing code and design documents to contributing to architectural discussions.
  • Partner with Product, Design, and Cloud Engineering teams to deliver seamless, reliable app to device and app to cloud experiences.
  • Support the career development of full time employees through coaching, feedback, and structured growth paths.
  • Ensure timely delivery of app features and releases that align with NETGEAR's strategic roadmap.
  • Champion modern software development practices, including automation, testing, and CI/CD.
  • Promote the use of AI assisted development tools to improve velocity, reduce manual effort, and enhance overall quality.
  • Foster a culture of empathy, ownership, and continuous improvement.

Key Requirements

  • 3+ years of people management experience, including leading, coaching, and developing software engineers.
  • Strong background in building consumer grade mobile apps that interact with hardware or IoT devices.
  • Solid understanding of Bluetooth connectivity, device pairing, and communication protocols.
  • Experience with cloud connected apps, including syncing data and managing device state across mobile and cloud platforms.
  • Experience with subscription and payment platforms such as Stripe, PayPal, or Apple Pay is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience adopting or promoting AI tooling to enhance software delivery and team efficiency.
  • Experience with observability and performance monitoring tools such as Datadog, New Relic, or AppDynamics, and an understanding of how observability can improve mobile app responsiveness and user experience.
  • Ability to balance leadership and technical depth - comfortable being hands on when needed.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across global teams and diverse cultures.
  • Empowering leadership style that inspires and motivates individuals and teams to achieve their best work.
