We are actively seeking to recruit a part-time Spinal Nurse to support our ever growing Spinal service. The aim of the Spinal Nurse role is to ensure that the specialised skills and knowledge in Spinal Nursing are utilised to facilitate the provision of a quality patient focused service for all patients attending the Mater Private Hospital in Cork. He/she must as a role model, promote best practice in the delivery of nursing care and provide clinical expertise and support within the Multi Disciplinary Team. Support, assist and facilitate colleagues in achieving specific Critical Success Factors as developed for the Unit/Department. Encourage a culture of openness and participation through effective communication. He/she will also be responsible for his/her own professional development Main duties and responsibilities will include: To be competent in identifying and assessing potential spinal/surgery candidates for pre-admission and post discharge and to facilitate post-acute discharge planning and referral. To act as a resource and contact person for spinal patients attending other departments within the hospital or outside the hospital for treatment. To collaborate with the surgeon in the co-ordination of patient care. To co-ordinate and communicate patient information while maintaining confidentiality and privacy To assist in the development and delivery of teaching and training programmes Candidate Requirements Current NMBI Registration. Minimum of 5 years post registration experience, desirable Strong values and commitment to patient Safety & Quality Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills Ability to work on their own initiative and to be self motivated.
