PERMANENT FULL-TIME DAY SERVICES TEAM LEADER

BEO SERVICES, GALWAY CITY & COUNTY

A panel may be formed as a result of this process from which subsequent appointments within the BEO Services may be made over the next 6 months.

Location:

Galway City and Suburbs. Carra Day Program is a progression program which focus on supporting adults with high support needs to be as independent as possible and to work towards their own chosen goals and achievements. They are supported to access education, training, voluntary roles, work experiences, creative arts, and leisure activities and supported to gain employment if desired. The program encourages individuality and empowerment and is based on the needs and ambitions of the people we support.

Carra Day Program also provides an opportunity to build community links, avail of opportunities to develop friendships and other relationships, and encourages personal development.

The Role:

The Team Leader will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the day program,

including front line work with individuals supported by the services.

They will provide leadership and supervision, ensuring the service delivered is of the highest standard and person centred.

It is the Team Leaders responsibility to ensure that the life of each service user reflects the organisations core values and the personal outcome measures.

Service coordinator/Area manager

Qualifications/Experience/Skills:

The recognised professional qualification for social care is as follows:

 HETAC/NQAI BA in Applied Social Studies (Disability)/Social Care or Nursing (RNID/RNMH). A qualification in Management is desirable.

 The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years experience of working with individuals with an intellectual disability in a disability, community and mental Health and/or educational setting.

 Experience of behaviours that challenge and complex needs. Experience of working with people with a dual diagnosis of intellectual disability and mental health is an advantage. Experience of supporting individuals who have an autism spectrum disorder is desirable.

 The successful candidate must have experience of managing and supervising a staff team and be up to date with current policy and legislation and future modes of day service delivery.

 Candidates must demonstrate strong leadership, management and planning skills as well as the ability to set goals, implement and review. 

Experience in goal setting and programme development and implementation aimed towards promoting independence is essential.

 Candidates must have the ability to exercise good judgement, discretion and confidentiality, to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms and co-operate in a team environment with a person-centred philosophy.

 A full manual Class B Driving Licence to enable the appointee to drive the service transport.

Working Hours:

Contracted hours will be based on a 7-day duty roster and will depend on the grade of the successful candidate i.e. 78 hours a fortnight (Social Care grade) 75 hours a fortnight (CNM1 grade). Normal working hours will be Monday to Friday. However, contracted hours of work are liable to change over 7 days to meet the requirements of the programme. The roster varies in order to meet the needs of the service and accordingly you are required to be flexible in regard to your working hours. An On Call commitment is an essential requirement of the post.

The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual

Annual Leave:

Leave will be granted according to the agreed leave assigned to the grade of the successful candidates i.e. Social Care or CNM1. Annual leave must be planned in advance with the Area Manager / Service Coordinator to ensure appropriate and adequate cover is provided for the service.

Remuneration:

Based on the salary scale attached to the grade of the successful candidates i.e. Social Care or CNM1.

Tenure:

This post is Permanent full-time and pensionable.

Probation:

A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the Employers discretion.
