Delap and Waller are seeking to appoint to this strategically important position, of which the career prospects should not be underestimated. This is a truly career defining opportunity with a first-class organisation, starting as an Associate Director, the opportunity is open for an outstanding individual to progress rapidly to Director and eventually run the Mechanical department in the growing Dublin office.
As Associate Director you will lead the growth of our Dublin Office in conjunction with the Company Directors. Along with directing, supervising and coordinating the work activities of the engineering department, as Associate Director you will provide design expertise for MEP building services requirements of large scale and complex buildings, such as offices, hospitals, hotels, and retail centres.
The role will require you to oversee the technical direction of the team, manage project budgets and timelines, and act as a mentor/trainer when required. This is a full-time professional position that will require managing multiple tasks at different stages of development in various projects while ensuring satisfaction with the completed work that meets client objectives, our financial goals, and company's reputation in the marketplace.
Skills/Experience:
BSc/BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
Chartered status in CIBSE or equivalent professional membership of an engineering institution
A minimum of eight years' experience in the design and management of MEP building services projects, preferably in a consulting design-engineering environment
Experience in leading and managing teams and producing financial returns through profitable operations
Thorough knowledge of the engineering principles behind the design and implementation of MEP Building Services
Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a strong client focus while working in a team environment
A keen interest and enthusiasm for continuous improvement, innovation, and sustainability, with an ability to develop and share best practice within the department.
Securing work from existing and new Clients
Management of Engineering team to produce quality design package on time
Responsibilities:
This fantastic position is regarded by Delap and Waller as a stepping-stone to Directorship and is intended to allow the successful individual to show capability and aptitude in a management role. You will be expected and encouraged to go beyond the normal design tasks which you have carried out to date.
The following is a non-exclusive list of duties, over and beyond Principal Engineer design tasks:
To actively support the Directors of the Company
To assist in the management of the Company
Responsible for supervision, mentoring and training of Staff.
Secure repeat work with existing Clients.
Marketing and introduction of new Clients/Opportunities.
Undertake regular training.
Progress inter-company tasks between Antrim, Dublin & London.
Progress development of the Antrim Office, including
Financial operations and targets - Business income versus expenditure
Project management/technical governance/cost control
Staff management and resourcing
Recruitment
Networking and promoting the business in the market
