Firmware Engineer – Madison, WI

Work Schedule: Standard (Mon-Fri)

Environmental Conditions: Office

Location: Madison, WI, USA. The position is fully onsite; relocation assistance is not provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform all phases of embedded software development, including design, implementation, testing, integration, and maintenance for scientific instruments.
  • Develop reliable firmware in C for ARM microprocessors and TI DSPs used in FTIR, Raman, and microscopy instruments.
  • Design and implement programmable logic using VHDL for FPGAs and CPLDs.
  • Develop manufacturing and support utilities using C#/.NET.
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality products by collaborating closely with project teams, SQA, and cross-functional engineering groups.
  • Participate in design and architecture reviews.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, test plans, and user documentation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. MS preferred.
  • 2–4 years of hands-on experience in embedded software or firmware development.
  • Strong programming skills in C; experience with C++ is a plus.
  • Experience developing embedded software across the full lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, integration, and maintenance.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, which includes a drug screen.
Scientist III – Cell and Molecular Biology – Athlone, Ireland

Work Schedule: Standard (Mon-Fri)

Environmental Conditions: Laboratory and/or clinical environment.

Location: Athlone, Ireland. The position is fully onsite; relocation assistance is not provided.

What You’ll Do:

  • Independently perform method validations, method transfers, and analytical testing of pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical compounds in a variety of formulations and/or delivery systems.
  • Prepare study protocols, project status reports, final study reports, and other project-related technical documents.
  • Communicate data and technical issues to the client and respond to client needs and questions.
  • Mentor, train, and coordinate laboratory activities of other team members and assist in troubleshooting instruments and analytical problems.
  • Assist with quality systems and new equipment.
  • Assist in designing method validation or method transfer protocols and establish project timelines.
  • Review, interpret, and analyze data for technical, quality, and compliance to protocols, methods, SOPs, client criteria, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Perform self- and peer-review of the data for accuracy and compliance with reporting requirements prior to submission to QA and issuance to customers.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant scientific field.
  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience, including direct experience performing method validations, transfers, and analytical testing.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Solid understanding of cell biology, biochemistry, or immunology.
  • Proficiency in performing plate-based assays using microtiter plate readers; preferred experience with SoftMax and PLA analysis.
  • Experience handling and maintaining mammalian cell culture.
  • Technical experience with ADCC, proliferation and reporter gene assays, direct and indirect Binding ELISA, and competitive binding ELISA.
  • Full understanding of laboratory requirements, client SOPs, ICH guidelines, USP requirements, and FDA guidance.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Excel and Word for data analysis and documentation.
  • Proficiency in technical operating systems.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability in technical writing, time management, and project management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and train junior staff.

Working Conditions and Environment:

  • Work performed in a laboratory and/or clinical environment with exposure to electrical office equipment.
  • Occasional drives to site locations and occasional domestic travel.
  • Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms.
  • Rare exposure to skin and lung irritants, radiation, toxic materials, and hazardous waste.
  • Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear, garments, and gloves.
  • Exposure to fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures on rare occasions.
