Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Senior Architect to join our Building & Planning team and play a leading role in the delivery of complex, high-profile architectural projects across multiple site. Discounts with Retailers - Nationwide Specific Illness Cover Job Objectives About the role Nua Healthcare is seeking an experienced Senior Architect to join our established in-house Building & Planning team. This is a unique opportunity to lead the design and delivery of technically challenging projects that make a genuine difference to people's lives. Our portfolio includes residential, specialist residential, disability, mental health and healthcare environments across Ireland, where architecture plays a central role in creating therapeutic, neuroinclusive and trauma-informed environments that support sensory integration, positive behavioural support and person-centred care. Our projects range from bespoke adaptations of existing buildings to complex refurbishments and new-build specialist facilities. Projects range from small bespoke adaptations to multi-million euro new-build developments. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will lead projects from feasibility through planning, statutory approvals, technical design, construction and handover, while helping shape the future development of the department. You'll join an established in-house Building & Planning team comprising architects, technicians, project managers, landscape designer and technical specialists, delivering a diverse portfolio of projects across Ireland. The role You will lead the design and technical delivery of multiple projects simultaneously, supported by an experienced in-house team of architects, architectural technicians and clerk of works. You will take overall responsibility for project quality, technical compliance and successful delivery, including: feasibility studies and site appraisals planning applications technical detailing and construction documentation consultant coordination contract administration and site inspections technical problem solving during construction liaison with Local Authorities, Building Control and Fire Authorities The role also includes mentoring junior team members, reviewing technical information prepared by consultants and supporting the continued development of departmental standards and procedures. You'll work closely with occupational therapists, behavioural specialists, operations teams and multidisciplinary design consultants to develop innovative architectural solutions tailored to highly specialised care environments. While technical excellence and compliance are fundamental, the role also offers significant opportunity for creative problem-solving and innovative design, with every project presenting its own unique challenges. Skills Requirement Skills & Experience Required Registered Architect with the RIAI (or an equivalent recognised professional body), or eligible for registration in Ireland. Minimum 8 years' post-registration experience. Strong technical and construction knowledge. Excellent understanding of Irish Building Regulations and Planning legislation. Proven experience managing projects through planning, statutory approvals, and construction. Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams. Excellent communication, organisational, and report-writing skills. Experience in healthcare, specialist residential, or public sector projects is desirable but not essential. Experience as an Assigned Certifier and/or PSDP is an advantage. Qualifications Registered Architect (RIAI or equivalent recognised professional body), or qualified and eligible for registration with the RIAI.
