About The RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to join us as anEnvironmental Compliance Specialist, where you'll play a key role in ensuring best practice in environmental management systems and compliance across our business.

You will be responsible for the overall global assurance of environmental management systems, standards, procedures, and controls, confirming compliance with all applicable regulatory and legal requirements, while also supporting good business practices.

In This Role, You Will

  • Plan and develop risk performance, standards, and capabilities to improve market and site targets, working closely with key internal and external partners.
  • Monitor and interpret new and changing environmental regulations in each jurisdiction, ensuring requirements are captured in our legal register, effectively communicated, and successfully integrated into our management systems.
  • Develop methods to measure progress against compliance targets and achievements, building an internal tiered reporting framework for environmental management and compliance that supports global and market-level risk analysis, planning, and mitigation.
  • Develop governance processes for incident and non-compliance reporting, enabling rapid response and engagement with senior partners to minimise environmental impacts, reputational risk, and financial loss.
  • Support compliance assurance with permits and regulations through a schedule of regulatory compliance audits.
  • Monitor and drive the timely closure of actions arising from environmental findings (including audits, incidents, regulatory visits, statutory inspections, and non-conformances).
  • Support the maintenance of Diageo's Environmental Data Management System and document control management system.
  • Provide specialist environmental support to operations teams across our sites, including (but not limited to) compliance obligations, incident investigations, root cause analysis, risk assessments, corrective and preventive actions, and training.

We're Looking For Someone Who Can Bring

  • Experience of delivering projects and working effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and environmental practices, ideally within the food, brewing, or spirits industry.
  • A degree in a science or engineering field, or equivalent operational experience gained through proven expertise.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain standards and relevant legislation.
  • Professional environmental accreditation (such as IEMA), or the motivation and willingness to work towards an equivalent qualification.
  • Experience with environmental data management systems, document control management systems, and business analytics tools (this would be a strong advantage).
  • Excellent numerical and data analysis skills, with the ability to translate insights into meaningful action.
  • Strong engagement and communication abilities, along with experience coaching and influencing partners at all levels to achieve shared success.
