Overview
A leading global organisation within the flexible packaging sector is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join its high performing Quality team in Donegal. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast paced manufacturing environment and enjoys influencing quality standards, process improvements, and cross functional excellence. In this position, you will play a key role in ensuring customers receive products that meet exact specification and regulatory standards, acting as a critical link between manufacturing operations and quality assurance. You will also have the authority to make independent decisions on product suitability prior to release - a great opportunity for someone seeking more ownership and technical responsibility.
Responsibilities
Champion and promote a safe working environment, ensuring full adherence to all Health & Safety procedures.
Support the development, communication, and maintenance of Quality Systems and policies across a 24/7 operation.
Build strong working relationships across Production, Engineering, Supply Chain and other key functions to drive a "Right First Time" culture.
Ensure effective processes are in place for managing non conforming product, whether internally manufactured or externally supplied.
Support the achievement and maintenance of key industry accreditations (BRCGS, FSC, PEFC, FSAI and customer-specific standards).
Maintain the highest standards of product quality through documentation control, procedural compliance, and ongoing internal audit activity.
Identify training needs within the Quality function and contribute to the upskilling of production teams where required.
Ensure all accredited body requirements are embedded into daily operations and fully adhered to.
Act as a role model for the company\'s core values and support continuous improvement activities.
Carry out any additional reasonable tasks as required by the Quality department.
Qualifications
A degree in Engineering, Science or a technical discipline is preferred, but candidates with strong manufacturing experience will also be considered.
Proven experience in a Quality Engineering or Quality Assurance role within manufacturing, packaging, printing, or FMCG.
Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and experience maintaining standards such as BRCGS, FSC, PEFC, FSAI or similar.
Experience managing non-conformances, conducting root cause analysis, and driving CAPA processes.
Ability to develop, implement, and maintain quality documentation and procedures across a continuous manufacturing operation.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across departments.
A proactive, detail focused mindset with a passion for quality and continuous improvement.
