We're looking for a seasoned transactional lawyer to step into a senior, practice-embedded role as aSenior Innovation Lawyer. You'll act as a catalyst for change within one of our leading Practice Groups and indeed across the firm, translating real transactional pressure into pragmatic, tech-enabled solutions that can be adopted at pace. Our Senior Innovation Lawyer will play a pivotal role in ensuring our teams remain at the forefront of rapidly evolving legal practice by helping them deliver faster, higher-quality, and more cost-effective outcomes for clients, while enhancing the working lives of our lawyers.
You will:
Champion the adoption of legal technology and process innovation, driving measurable improvements in efficiency, quality, and client experience.
Map and analyse transaction lifecycles and process flows, identifying opportunities for technology and process improvement.
Design and document improved workflows, leveraging the firm's Legal Tech Toolkit (e.g. document automation, contract review, GenAI tools).
Bridge the gap between legal practice and technology, translating transactional expertise into practical improvements that benefit clients and teams alike.
Lead the adoption and responsible use of GenAI tools (Copilot, Harvey, Legora, etc.), building prompt libraries and supporting colleagues in their use.
Build credibility and trust with partners and associates, acting as a resource and advocate for innovation.
Measure adoption and outcomes, reporting progress to the Practice Group Lead and Digital Transformation team.
Assist with developing and delivering targeted education and change programmes (e.g. desk-side coaching, playbooks, champions networks).
Support efforts to organise and label work product (taxonomies, clause libraries) to enable automation and AI initiatives.
Stay abreast of market trends, regulatory developments, and client expectations in legal technology and GenAI.
Act as the Practice Group's liaison to the Digital Transformation team, ensuring the lawyer's voice shapes firm-wide strategy.
Partner with lawyers across the firm, Professional Support Lawyers and Legal Project Managers to deliver joined-up solutions.

Key Responsibilities1. Process Mapping & Improvement
Map current legal processes and matter lifecycles, identifying opportunities for technology and process improvement.
Design, build, test, and refine tech-enabled workflows, collaborating with lawyers and business services to ensure practical fit and measurable value.
Pilot new processes and tools, capturing before/after metrics and refining approaches based on feedback.
Legal Tech & GenAI Enablement
Assist deal teams during the early phases of transactions to select and implement the right legal tech tools for the matter at hand.
Identify, pilot, and embed legal technology and GenAI tools in day-to-day practice.
Develop and curate prompt libraries and use-case playbooks, tailored to the needs of each practice group and matter type.
Lead training and coaching sessions on GenAI tools, prompt engineering, and workflow optimisation.
Champion responsible use of GenAI and legal tech, advising on when their use adds value, and when it should be avoided.
Change Leadership & Adoption
Build credibility and trust with partners and associates, acting as a resource and advocate for innovation.
Develop and deliver targeted education and change programmes (e.g. desk-side coaching, playbooks, champions networks).
Monitor usage, gather feedback, and iterate on workflows and training to drive sustained adoption.
Policy, Compliance & Risk Management
Liaise with the Risk & Compliance team to help ensure all technology and GenAI use is compliant with firm and client policies, including confidentiality, privilege, and data protection requirements.
Advise on when GenAI and other tech should not be used (e.g. for certain client matters, or where outputs cannot be reliably verified).
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory developments and ethical standards relating to legal tech and GenAI in legal practice.
Collaboration & Influence
Act as the Practice Group's liaison to the Digital Transformation team, ensuring the lawyer's voice shapes firm-wide strategy.
Partner with PSLs, LPMs, and other business services to deliver joined-up solutions and knowledge assets.

High and sustained adoption of legal tech and GenAI tools and workflows within the Practice Group.
Measurable improvements in efficiency, quality, and client satisfaction.
Documented prompt libraries, workflow playbooks, and adoption dashboards.
Demonstrated compliance with technology and GenAI policies and positive feedback from clients and colleagues.
Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseEssential
Qualified solicitor or barrister with significant transactional experience (e.g. M&A, debt finance, capital markets) – ideally at least 4 years' PQE.
Proven ability to command respect and influence change in a high-pressure, client-facing environment.
Demonstrated process thinking - comfortable mapping, analysing, and redesigning workflows.
Tech fluency (no coding required), able to select and embed the right tools for the job, and support colleagues in their use.
Strong aptitude for GenAI tools such as Copilot, Harvey, Legora, or similar.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear SOPs, training materials, and adoption dashboards.
Desirable
Experience with business analysis, process change, or legal operations.
Experience developing or maintaining prompt libraries, workflow automations, or legal tech playbooks.
Exposure to legal data management, knowledge management, or AI/ML initiatives.
Experience delivering technology-enabled change projects in a law firm or similar environment.
