Job Title: Senior Medical Scientist – Haematology

Responsibilities

Provide an efficient, effective, accredited laboratory service for the patients of the Mater Private Hospital.

Qualifications

• Possess a BSc (Applied Science) Honours, Biomedical option, from the University of Dublin / Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street; or
• Possess a BSc Honours in Biomedical Science from Joint University College Cork – Cork Institute of Technology; or
• Possess a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences from the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street or the Cork Institute of Technology awarded prior to 1994; or
• Possess a recognised qualification at least equivalent to items (a) or (b) above; or
• Possess a recognised qualification at least equivalent to (c) awarded prior to 1994; and
• Possess a postgraduate degree in Medical Laboratory Science; or
• Have attained the fellowship examination of the Institute of Biomedical Science; and
• Must be registered with CORU or eligible for membership upon completion of study, or eligible for membership and in the process of applying for state registration; and
• Possess Fellowship of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine (FACSLM) or be eligible for Fellowship; and
• Possess four years experience in a medical laboratory since qualifying as a Medical Scientist in the relevant discipline.

The successful candidate should possess good interpersonal skills and awareness/sensitivity towards patients' needs.
