Job Description Dunnes Stores is Ireland's leading retailer positioned at the cutting edge of food and fashion retailing. We have over 130 stores throughout Ireland, Northern Ireland and Spain and we are expanding our service and product offering all the time. We are known for offering a wide range of high-quality products and for continuously improving our customer experience. The Opportunity We are seeking a high-calibre Technical Program Manager to support the delivery of complex, multi-workstream technology initiatives and to play a key role in the ongoing development of the IT PMO. Reporting directly to the Head of IT PMO, this role is designed for someone who combines strong delivery capability with the potential to grow into broader PMO leadership responsibility over time. You will work closely with the Head of PMO as a trusted partner, contributing not only to programme execution but also to the evolution of delivery frameworks, governance practices, and portfolio oversight. The role spans integration, regulatory, and infrastructure-related initiatives and operates across both programme and portfolio contexts. It suits someone with a mix of enterprise delivery experience and consultancy-style thinking, who is comfortable applying best practice while adapting it pragmatically to a complex business environment. Retail experience is beneficial but not essential. Examples of Current Initiatives The role supports a range of technology programmes and workstreams, including: System and platform integrations, such as integrating a cloud-based Learning Management System with multiple existing platforms. Vendor-led hardware and platform integrations, including smart safe solutions connecting third-party hardware and cloud services into internal financial systems via Azure. Regulatory and mandatory change delivery within core enterprise systems, across HR and Payroll, Finance and Tax, and Supply Chain for food, fashion and homeware. Technical workstreams within a broader network transformation programme, covering Wi-Fi, LAN, and WAN connectivity. Parallel engineering initiatives requiring strong coordination, dependency management, and delivery discipline. Key Responsibilities Programme Leadership: Lead the delivery of complex, multi-workstream technology programmes, ensuring strong planning, governance, and execution. Partnership with Head of IT PMO: Work closely with the Head of PMO to support PMO priorities, contribute to delivery strategy, and help shape how programmes are governed and tracked. Governance & Frameworks: Apply PMO-aligned governance and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of delivery frameworks, standards, and reporting. Portfolio & Pipeline Oversight: Support portfolio planning and prioritisation by maintaining programme roadmaps, managing interdependencies, and contributing to pipeline decisions. Stakeholder Advisory: Act as a trusted delivery partner to senior technology leaders and business stakeholders, supporting informed decision-making. Risk & Issue Management: Proactively manage risks, dependencies, and delivery challenges, escalating appropriately and maintaining delivery confidence. Candidate Profile We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate the potential to grow into broader PMO leadership over time. You are likely to bring: Experience in programme or senior project management roles delivering complex technology initiatives. Exposure to both enterprise delivery environments and consultancy-style work, where structured problem-solving and best practice were required. Experience operating within a PMO or structured governance environment, with an understanding of portfolio-level thinking. Comfort working across business and technology stakeholders, with the ability to influence and advise rather than rely on authority. Hands-on experience with delivery and tracking tools such as Azure Dev Ops, Jira, or similar platforms. Exposure to infrastructure, networking, integration, or enterprise systems programmes. Relevant certifications (PMP, Pg MP, SAFe, Agile, or similar) are beneficial but not mandatory. How Success Is Measured In the short to medium term, success will be measured by: Consistent delivery of complex programmes against realistic plans. Strong governance, reporting discipline, and proactive risk management. Confidence and trust built with senior technology and business stakeholders. Over time, success will also include: Increased ownership of PMO processes, frameworks, and portfolio oversight. Demonstrated ability to operate as a senior partner to the Head of IT PMO. Contribution to the maturity and effectiveness of the IT PMO as a function. Why This Role This is an opportunity to join the IT PMO at a pivotal time and to work directly with the Head of PMO on programmes that matter to the organisation. For the right person, the role offers a clear runway to broaden scope and influence, deepen exposure to enterprise-level decision-making, and develop into a senior PMO leadership position. It is well suited to someone who values ownership, enjoys structured environments, and wants to grow beyond programme delivery into shaping how work gets done.
