AI Engineer - Azure AI | OCR | LLMs | Python We are partnering with an innovative technology-driven organisation that is expanding its AI capabilities and seeking an experienced AI Engineer to join a growing team. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge intelligent automation, document understanding, and generative AI solutions that deliver real business value. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and deploying scalable AI systems using Azure technologies, OCR solutions, large language models, and modern machine learning techniques. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and deploy AI and machine learning solutions using Azure AI Services, Azure Machine Learning, and cloud-native technologies. Develop and optimise OCR and document-processing pipelines using technologies such as Azure Document Intelligence and other document understanding frameworks. Build LLM-powered applications, including prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and agent-based workflows. Train, evaluate, and deploy machine learning models for tasks such as classification, information extraction, anomaly detection, and prediction. Develop scalable Python-based backend services and APIs to support AI applications. Integrate AI solutions with databases, enterprise systems, and third-party services. Monitor model performance, troubleshoot production issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product, and quality assurance to deliver high-quality AI solutions. Required Skills & Experience Minimum 3 years' experience in AI Engineering, Machine Learning Engineering, or a related field. Strong knowledge of the Azure AI ecosystem, including Azure Machine Learning, Azure AI Services, Azure Document Intelligence, Durable Functions, and cloud infrastructure. Hands-on experience building OCR and document-processing solutions. Experience working with large language models, prompt engineering, vector databases, and RAG architectures. Strong understanding of machine learning principles, model evaluation, optimisation, and deployment. Advanced Python development skills and experience with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Transformers, LangChain, or similar. Experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases. Proven track record of delivering production-grade AI applications and services. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Desirable Experience Experience with multimodal AI solutions combining vision and language models. Knowledge of MLOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, model monitoring, and model lifecycle management. Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerised deployments. Understanding of cloud cost optimisation strategies for AI workloads.
